Í dag er kunngjørt, at Bakkafrost er í uppskoti at fáa EY umhvørvisvirðislønina 2024. Tilnevningin er fyri nýmennandi burðardygdsátøk hjá Bakkafrost í alivinnuni - harímillum at seta fyrsta biogassverkið í Føroyum (Førka) á stovn.

Ein óheft nevnd fer at kjósa vinnaran á tiltaki í Keypmannahavn tann 17. september.

Bakkafrost are proud to announce that Bakkafrost has been nominated for the 2024 EY Environment Award 👏

The Environment Award is given to a company that consciously and ambitiously addresses the business's impact on key natural and environmental areas.

The nomination is based on Bakkafrost’s initiatives in sustainable fish farming, renewable energy use and innovative waste management practices, focusing especially on our biogas plant Førka.

Førka is the first biogas plant in the Faroe Islands and plays a role in the green transition by converting organic waste into renewable energy and fertilizers. The plant processes waste from various sources, including food waste, waste from salmon and dairy farms.

The EY Environment Award is part of EY's broader Sustainability Awards, which aim to recognize companies that excel in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into their business operations.

An independent jury will choose the winner, who will be announced at a ceremony in Copenhagen on September 17th.
