ENGLISH | GROAQUA | World’s Largest Barge – Cut in Half

Writer: Eva AndrésenEva Andrésen

The barges GroAqua is building are so large that they have to cut them in two before they can be moved into the hall for sandblasting, metallization, and painting.

Simply put — they’re too long to fit in at full length.

These barges are built to withstand rough weather and operate on exposed sites. Each has a feed capacity of 1,100 tons and is equipped with 24 feeding lines.

Currently GroAqua is building three of these large newbuilds for the aquaculture industry, all set for delivery in 2025.
